Message from Ambassador Jun Yamazaki

On behalf of the Embassy of Japan in Singapore, I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore, or JUGAS.

Since its establishment in 1970, JUGAS has closely cooperated with us in the area of international student exchange between Japan and Singapore. The role that JUGAS plays in such activities, as welcome-gatherings for returning graduates and pre-departure orientations for students entering universities in Japan, is invaluable.

I am aware that many who have studied in Japan and returned to Singapore have become active and important people in various fields in this country. Needless to say, they have played a major role in building the close economic, social, and cultural relationship that exists between Japan and Singapore today.

In today's world, COVID-19 has restricted the most important aspect of human relations, which is physical face-to-face interaction. We recognize that realizing people exchange, including studying abroad, continues to be very important.

We look forward to continuing our excellent partnership with JUGAS and wish JUGAS continued success in the years ahead.
