Message from Asia Japan Alumni (ASJA) International

In my capacity as the Chairperson of Asia Japan Alumni (ASJA), today I am grateful and appreciated to share some words for commemorating the 50th Anniversary of The Japanese University Graduates Association of Singapore (JUGAS).

Since the establishment of ASJA in 2000, JUGAS has always been a significant partner, making great contribution. This began with JUGAS assuming the first ASJA Director in 2000 by Mr. Ang Soo Mui, then ASJA Chairperson from 2008-2010 under the leadership of Mr. Tan Jong Lek, and currently this noble title is being held by Mr. Yee Jenn En as ASJA Director.

For the 20th years of ASJA, JUGAS is always an excellent partner to ASCOJA, for half a century, JUGAS has been actively fostering and promoting good relations between Singapore and Japan as well as fellow associations from all ASEAN countries through different networks and events.

In the context of globalization and fast changing world, it is more important than ever that we promote mutual trust and close collaboration. I strongly believe that, under your leadership, JUGAS will continue to engage with ASJA, the ASEAN Council of Japan Alumni (ASCOJA) and other organizations to continuously promote and enhance public understanding of Japanese culture and language. In the context of COVID-19 pandemic in particular, it is crucial for all of us to tighten our cooperation and support to one another so that we all could overcome this global crisis together.

I wish you and all members of JUGAS having good health, success and prosperity, looking forward to seeing all of you in person in the near future.
